The IOLAS blog

Why do so many people dislike their jobs?

You might think it's because they don't find their work very interesting. But in a lot of cases, you'd be wrong.

Many people leave their jobs for another reason entirely. The job doesn't offer the things they value. The work itself may be interesting. But they don't have the opportunity to work alone, or to be fairly treated, or to feel useful - the list goes on.

That's why IOLAS asks you about your work values as well as your interests. You rank twenty statements about your work values, and then we can match you with careers based on those values, or on your interests, or both.

Most career surveys don't do this. They focus on your interests. But if your career isn't personally fulfilling, it doesn't matter how interesting it is - does it?
